What is Clad Plate?

Clad plate is created by bonding two or more metals by Explosive Bonding technology. These Clad Plates include different types of metal combinations such as Stainless Steel-Clad Plates, Nickel–Steel Clad Plates, NrCrMO-Cs Clad Plates, Stainless Steel duplex-CS Clad Plates which can be extensively used in the petroleum industry, chemical industry, and food industry.

Why Clad Plate?

  • Cold Bonding Process: With this process, there is negligible effect on the original properties of the parent plates
  • Almost any metallurgical combination can be bonded as per the need
  • Production time is less, so quick delivery is ensured
  • Economically affordable & competitive prices

What is Explosion Bonding Process?

A bonding process where two dissimilar materials are bonded with the help of pressure alone - wherein diffusion takes place without bulk heating. Generated pressure is high enough to force the solid metal to behave like a viscous fluid, thus resulting in a metallurgical bond without the involvement of heat. In this process, heat does get generated; however since the bonding process takes only a few milliseconds to complete, the heat does not get any time to get transferred into the metals.

In other words, it is a cold-welding process wherein solid-state phase is achieved with the help of enormous pressure that is generated via the chemical explosion.

This process exhibits some advantages that are enlisted below:

  • There is no compromise in the atomic strength of the bond, i.e., even though it is a cold process, a full atomic bond is created.
  • Often the bond that is formed, is found to be stronger than the inter atomic bond of either of the constituent metals.
  • Using this process, a bond can be created even between two metals that are otherwise nearly impossible, or can prove to be very expensive, if carried out using conventional welding methods.
  • Large area surface-to-surface bonds can be quickly made without losing original properties of parent metals.

Due to an evolved process and an advantageous production scale, we are in the position to offer the most competitive prices vis-à-vis hot rolled or weld overlay plates.
